Morning #Fitfam! Hope everyone got their workouts in this morning or at least plan to get one in tonight. 😜 I’ve been focusing a lot lately on corrective exercise, form, and posture, especially pertaining to my running gait. Excessive internal hip rotation will forever be the bane of my existence. 😭 Maybe one day I’ll make a post on it, but first gotta figure out what works for me. πŸ˜… In the meantime, here’s another oldie, but a goodie: chest, shoulders, and triceps! I try to do SMR (self-myofascial release) at least a few times per week. If I’m particularly sore, I’ll do it even more frequently, but since I’m in a muscle maintenance mode, I don’t do it that often for those reasons. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” SMR or foam rolling is good for loosening up tight connective muscle tissue. This is good for improving muscular imbalances when combined with static stretching of the tight muscles after a workout. Traditionally you do not want to stretch a muscle for very long before a workout because it weakens it and hinders its ability to contract. Foam roll each muscle for 30 seconds and focus on the tight spots for 5-10 seconds. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Ideally you want to foam roll before exercising and static stretch after. But foam rolling and stretching can also be beneficial on the days when you don’t workout as well. Give it a try! I might be changing the way I post on here from now on. I’ll probably be more exercise and stretch oriented rather than food oriented. Don’t get me wrong, I still love food! But I think I’ve really found my niche in that regard for the time being and I really need to focus more or developing exercise and stretch routines for myself and my clients. πŸ˜… But that doesn’t mean I won’t be posting the occasional culinary concoction.
